Corban Junior Katharine Hormann studied abroad in Europe last semester through Corban’s Ambex program. She traveled to 11 countries, and learned something different in each one. Hormann’s passion and enthusiasm for travel spill into the lives of other students as she constantly urges them to try Ambex. Hormann offers tips and encouragement to visit different countries here in her top 11 reasons why you should study abroad:

Give a shirt
Whitney Farrin’s idea was simple. Make up a bunch of T-shirts, sell them for $10 and donate all the proceeds toward shopping trips with homeless kids. Her friends at West Salem High School started buying the shirts and wearing them to school. So did their parents. And college kids. And business owners. So far, the “I give a shirt campaign” has sold more than 1,000 shirts.
An international affair
After the Haiti earthquake Jan. 12, Laura Silsby sped up her plans to establish an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. She solicited volunteers throughout the United States to help open her orphanage immediately. Corban junior Bianca Davis discovered her friends Matt and Lora Crider had gone with the team to the Dominican Republic. “You never really understand the seriousness of a situation until someone you know is involved,” she said.
Put the phone down
Though it may not be the most popular law enacted by our government, many people–including students here at Corban–are readily supporting the new no-texting bill.
