Corban students have more ways than ever to be involved on campus, thanks to a host of new intramurals being offered this spring.
Donny Zavala, Gym Facility Manager and Director of Intramurals, has been coordinating not only the use of the gym and athletic fields this year, but also the schedule of intramurals for the first time in Corban history.
“ASB used to do intramurals,” Zavala said. “It is fresh to the athletics activities office. I am here, I have space and manage the facility. I don’t have to ask for permission [to use the gym].”
With revamped leadership and mission statement: “when every body plays, everybody wins,” Corban is offering several never-before-seen intramurals.
Of course, there are still those tried and true activities that students have come to love, such as the dodge ball league, kicking off on March 29.
Also on March 29, students can participate in and indoors soccer tournament.
Brand new to Corban, on March 29th in the athletics field, students will have the opportunity to participate in a kick-ball tournament.
Another new and unconventional intramural available is the Mario Kart tournament being held on April 6.
“Student’s need more to choose from. Traditional intramurals such as volleyball or soccer only bring out experienced and athletic students … How can we service more students and offer sports and activities for a more general audience? ” Zavala said.
And lastly, for those who think they have no athletic talent whatsoever, there is always the Rock Paper Scissors competition being held April 15.
