Women’s Soccer:
On the blustery afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 23, the women’s soccer team took the Warrior field against Eastern Oregon and put another “W” in the books with their 5-1 victory. 45 seconds in, senior Katie Hanson snagged the first goal, and freshman Audrey Sullivan followed suit by putting a two on the board shortly after. Sophomore Emily Tsugawa currently leads the Warriors in scoring as she made her 10th season goal in Saturday’s game. The Warriors were up 4-0 at the closing of the first half after Abigail Van Hoogen scored and went into the second running against the wind. However, only one ball scraped past the Warrior’s defense for a goal in the 56th minute, and Sullivan later countered with her second goal of the game. Their record stands at 13-3-0 and will next play Friday, Oct. 29th against Evergreen State in Olympia at 2 p.m.
Men’s Soccer:
Also on Oct. 23, the Warrior men took the home field against Evergreen State College, but came away with a 1-0 loss due to a penalty kick by Evergreen. Warrior freshman Ibrahim Haruna came close to scoring with 34 minutes remaining, but the attempt was thwarted by Evergreen’s goal keeper. The game put Corban’s men at 5-9-1 overall, which will have a chance for improvement beginning Friday, Oct. 29th at 2 p.m. in Caldwell, Idaho.
Volleyball:
The women’s volleyball team was on and off the court with a win after three sets on Saturday, Oct. 23. Final tallies against the host team Warner Pacific resulted in 25-17, 25-12, and 25-19 led by junior Tiffany Land with 15 kills for the night. Five kills from senior Teri Braun and nine from Chandra Boskoro laid a solid foundation for the team’s win. Leaving the court with a 9-8 overall season record, they will appear for a home game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 against Southern Oregon.
