Looking to put a hop in your step? Head over to VFW Hall, hosted by Ceili of the Valley Society, for some live music and traditional dance lessons. Dances will be called out and they’ll teach waltzes, polkas, and more. Don’t have a partner? Not needed. Dances will be taught from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. and the live music and dancing will go from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for students.

Sat. Sept. 14
Want to class it up? Then check out the Salem Chamber Orchestra who will be having an open dress rehearsal for the general public. Listen to live music, see behind the scenes, get your questions answered and have the chance to sit up close and personal with the orchestra. The event lasts from 10:00 a.m. to noon and is free for students with I.D.

Have you ever had the desire to crawl inside a giant whale? Well, this weekend at the Lancaster Mall you can do just that. With the OMSI “Amazing Whales” program you’ll be able to learn more about whales and dolphins, check out real whale artifacts and even crawl inside a 40-foot, life-size, inflatable whale. The program will last from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is free to the public.

For a fun night in the park you can check out the free concert by The Cherry City Band, and all girl band, at the Keizer Rotary Amphitheater. They’ll be playing rock cover songs. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. but the show will go from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Looking for a good time and willing to travel? The Saint Stephans Serbian Orthodox Church will be having their 7th annual Serbian festival. The event is free and will have cultural food, dancing, live music and a chance to experience the culture of the Serbian Orthodox people. The festival will take place on Sat. 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Sun. 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
