This Christmas you probably got to go home, see your family, not do homework, relax. This Christmas you probably hoped and hoped, as you ripped wrapping paper and ribbons, to get just what you’ve always wanted. But maybe you didn’t. Maybe you’re still looking.
Don’t look too far because Corban ASB is getting right into the second semester, and we’ve got just what you’ve always wanted: fun, fun, fun!
Thought the Beach Party was the best thing since sliced bread? The Turkey Trot surpassed all your wildest dreams of Thanksgiving fun? Never thought you’d see Jay-Z and Hansen on the same stage for Battle of the Bands?
Well … don’t lose that sense of wonder, because it’s about to get even better!
Hopefully you’ve already gotten a taste with our last event: Limelight. Corban may have its Baptist roots, but we sure can dance. Five dance crews competed and proved their talent and technique, but so did students in general. Dance 201 taught basic moves and grooves, and emcees Jordan Lindsay and Alyssa Teterud put students on the spot during blind-folded freestyle, Zumba and even some interpretive dance. Corban’s next best dance crew is the McKay Sisters, followed by the Offshore Account and Perpetual Motion.
What’s Next?
The next great event is a first to Corban: a school-wide Superbowl Party. On Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m., come hang out in the Psalm Center and watch the Steelers and the Packers battle it out on the big screens. We will be clearing out the bottom area and filling it with bar tables and chairs so we can share a sports bar feel … without the bar. If extra incentive is needed to tempt your attendance, then know that finger food and chances to win cash prizes will be available throughout the game.
If you are new to the whole college thing and worried that you’ll never get a chance to wear those long, flowing prom dresses ever again, you are wrong. ASB’s next event is a Black and White Formal Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m., at the Reed Opera House, just in time for an all dressed up dessert. Salem photographer Erich McVey will have a photo booth set up complete with props that can be enjoyed for free (included with your Black and White Ticket).
The last and arguably greatest event at Corban is the End of the Year Party. Yes, every year it is great, but this year we are planning on “going out with a bang!” On April 30 from 4-9 p.m., all of Corban is invited to gather at staff member Lori Schilling’s Barn to enjoy each other and celebrate the end of another wonderful year with fireworks, karaoke, red carpets, Rock Band, and even a reappearance of the Barn Party’s mechanical bull.
Get ready, because here we go.
