Favorite college memory?
“I definitely can’t narrow down my four years at Corban to one favorite memory; however, one of the best things would be making the music videos with the track team. It’s always such a blast dancing and having fun with a team, and its even better seeing the final product.”
If you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
“I would hope I’d be something cool, like a lion or wolf, because they’re strong and powerful but also adorable. But most people describe me as a gazelle or antelope, I guess because my long legs and misconception that I’m graceful.”
What does a Christian community look like to you?
“To me a beautiful representation of a Christian community is a group of people who are ready to edify and challenge one another, and also to receive that encouragement and opportunity for growth. It is a give-take relationship of believers pouring into each other while they themselves are being filled up. A Christian community is a representation of Christ. It is a people who are hurting, but are being healed by the love of Christ that is demonstrated by the people surrounding them.”
Favorite Balyo/Davidson memory?
“Again, its tough to narrow it down, but a couple of my favorite memories would be times spent with my hall, laughing and laying on the floor, Christmas community gatherings, and watching Harry Potter (for the first time) with my RA team.”

Favorite college memory?
“Taking Survey of Biblical Literature with Allen Jones. That class changed my life. I learned so much and he gave me a whole new perspective on the Bible.”
If you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
“An eagle, because it can see really well and fly. I would be master of the air.”
What does a Christian community look like to you?
“A Christian community is like a well-oiled car engine. All the parts of the engine have to be working to keep it cooled down and running. If one part isn’t working, the engine can still run for a while, but it will eventually blow up, or in some way it will ruin the car. A healthy community is running on the right stuff.”
What is your favorite Davidson memory?
“In the beginning of this year, we had a ping pong showdown between Balyo and Davidson. The guys dressed up super nice, then we presented our challenger to them. It took place on the second floor of Davison and it was very official. There was an epic duel, and Davidson won!”
Mikaela Hines

Favorite college memory?
“Playing in Battle of the Bands with my band, Muggy and the Rafters. Chad, Chico, Bobby, Kyle and I really had fun putting together a song and practicing our showmanship. It was the most fun I’ve ever had performing!”
If you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
“I would be a velociraptor because they are very loyal. If you have seen ‘Jurassic World’, you know they will fight for their friends – and they have large teeth.”
What does a Christian community look like to you?
“One aspect I consider being important is vulnerability. It’s putting yourself out there, asking how another person’s day is going and showing that you deeply love and care the way Christ did. It is being willing to listen, being transparent and honest. A community works to encourage and serve one another.”
What is your favorite Davidson memory?
“My favorite memory is the Lumberjack Games this year, because it was my first time helping out to plan and organize the whole thing. It was quite a bit of fun and great bonding time with our brother halls.”
